What’s an automatic discount?

Automatic discounts are any discount code that is applied by a store to an order, rather than manually by a shopper. For example, a Shopify Plus store may use a script to automatically apply a discount code under certain conditions. Brands often use automatic discount codes to extend Shopify’s pricing features. For example, “free gifts” are often orchestrated by automatically applying discount codes to specific items. 

What’s the difference between an automatic discount and a coupon code?

Automatic discounts are any discount code that is applied by a store to an order. Coupon codes are any codes that are manually applied by a shopper.

Why is CashBack automatically suspended with shopper-entered coupon codes but not automatic discounts? 

Since brands often use automatic discounts as part of extending Shopify’s pricing features, by default Fondue allows CashBack on orders with automatic discounts.

How do I prevent CashBack from being added to orders with a specific automatic discount?

1. Click Settings > CashBack Settings > CashBack and Automatic Discounts
2. Enter the automatic discount title you want to block CashBack–we recommend copying directly from your Shopify Admin so it’s an exact match
3. Click Prevent CashBack
